Important disclosures about the nature and limitations of our services.
Effective Date: April 17, 2026 | Last Updated: June 19, 2026
Anchor Filings is a document preparation and business filing service. We are not a law firm, and we do not provide legal advice, legal representation, or legal opinions. No attorney-client relationship is created by your use of our services.
Our staff members are not attorneys unless specifically identified as such. The information we provide about business formation, compliance, trademarks, and related topics is general in nature. It is not a substitute for advice from a licensed attorney.
Some matters require legal judgment. We strongly recommend consulting a licensed attorney or qualified professional if your situation involves any of the following:
Nothing on our website or in our communications constitutes tax advice or financial planning guidance. We sometimes describe general differences between entity types — for example, an LLC versus a Corporation. These descriptions are for informational purposes only. Tax treatment depends on your specific circumstances. Consult a licensed CPA, enrolled agent, or tax attorney for tax advice.
We prepare and submit your formation documents to the Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions (DFI) based on the information you provide. We do not guarantee:
Filing a trademark application with the USPTO does not guarantee registration. The USPTO may issue office actions, refuse registration, or require modifications. Common reasons for refusal include:
The typical timeline from filing to registration is 8–12 months, but can be significantly longer if office actions are issued. Our service fee covers the preparation and filing of the initial application (or office action response). Additional fees apply for subsequent filings, amendments, or appeals.
We file EIN applications with the IRS based on information you provide. The IRS may reject an application if the responsible party's information does not match their records. Rejected applications require corrected information from you before we can refile.
Beneficial Ownership Information (BOI) reports are submitted to the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN). As of March 2025, U.S.-formed entities are exempt from BOI filing requirements. This service applies to foreign-formed entities operating in the United States.
BOI filing requirements are subject to change based on federal law and court rulings. It is your responsibility to monitor changes to BOI requirements for your entity.
You are solely responsible for:
Our primary services focus on Wisconsin business formations and filings with the Wisconsin DFI. Federal services (EIN, trademark, BOI) are available regardless of state. We do not currently offer formation services in states other than Wisconsin unless specifically discussed and agreed upon.
Forming a business entity creates ongoing legal obligations, including but not limited to:
Our Compliance Pro service ($179/yr) helps track and manage some of these obligations, but it does not replace your ultimate responsibility as a business owner to maintain legal compliance.
If you order a dissolution or withdrawal filing, this action is permanent once filed with the state. Before requesting dissolution, you should make sure that:
Anchor Filings is not responsible for the consequences of dissolution. These can include loss of your entity name, tax implications, and effects on pending contracts.
Operating agreements prepared by Anchor Filings are based on established templates customized with the information you provide. They are designed for common business structures. An operating agreement is not a substitute for personalized legal advice. If your LLC involves complex ownership structures, significant assets, investor obligations, or special provisions, we strongly recommend having a licensed attorney review the final document.
When you purchase domain services, you retain full ownership of your domain name at all times. We interact with your registrar on your behalf using delegated access that you grant. We do not guarantee domain availability, as domain names are registered on a first-come, first-served basis. Domain registration is billed through Anchor (via Stripe) at our registrar partner's live wholesale price plus WHOIS privacy and a flat $10/year service margin.
As your registered agent, we accept service of process and official correspondence during normal business hours at our Madison, WI office. We are not responsible for:
Timely review of documents we forward to you is critical. Failure to respond to legal notices may result in default judgments or other adverse actions against your entity.
